The answer you would get is Oxford and Cambridge. But when looking and picking university make sure it is right for you. You will be able to tell from the visits. My best advice is to make sure you look at the student satisfaction rates and not the league tables. This tells you how good the course is at that university. The best university’s don’t necessarily have the best student satisfaction. Remember you could be at University between 3-5 years and that is a long time to be unhappy. I know I didn’t go to a top university but actually I had an amazing experience and actually by the sound of it it was better than my friends, who went to top universities!

Here you will find the “top universities for Physics” according to QS ranking https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings-articles/university-subject-rankings/top-universities-physics-2019
However as Kate suggested already you have to find which campus and ambience suits you better. You can talk to the students from those universities: nowadays internet and social networking has made that easier even if you are on different parts of the world. When it is universities within the UK then I suggest attending their open day activities to see if you fit in.

I have to say Keele because I work here 🙂 There’s no right or wrong answer to this. Some universities have an excellent reputation, such as Oxford and Cambridge, but you may not want to study there. Some people prefer to study from home and go to a local university, which is absolutely normal and fine. Some people want to go to a particular part of the world. University can be tough and you want to go to the place where you are most likely to enjoy your degree and succeed!
