Maths helps me find patterns in seemingly boring things in life. I love looking for patterns. Once a pattern is established you can often have a fair idea of what to expect next from that task, object, condition, or know when someone would bring cookies to office, when to not bother a friend, or when to give that friend a chocolate or cheer that friend up. Thus Maths helps me make my life (and also that of some others) easier and lazier. 😀
To be honest, as a kid I did not like Maths this much. But then I did not know that Maths can be this useful not just in calculating how much money to put in which fund in bank (arithmetic and accountancy), but also understand shapes and structures better (geometry and calculus). It was only from middle school onwards that I started liking Maths. During Bachelors I started loving Maths. The more I learned about Maths the more I started using it to make more sense of things around me, thus making my life easier.

I also use Geometry part of Maths to make gifs of my research results. Check out the rotating sphere (which I call the Sphere of Doom) video on my profile page under ‘My Work: Read More’. 🙂
