• Question: How do you want to inspire the younger generations, in particular young girls, to get into science and what do you see for science in the future?

      I see Science making it possible for sustainable development, better healthcare for people and animals, better care for nature and best use of natural resources, and ruling out ridiculous laws made to suppress certain parts of the society. I believe in science providing enough data and evidence for making better law and helping enforce it.

      Dear younger generation, right now the world needs us to be more responsible and needs us to take care of it. When you study science you’ll see why some existing laws especially wrt women, don’t make sense, why they are wrong and need to be changed. Science will help you make these changes. Girls, if you ever feel that you can’t do it because of your gender, please please please abandon that idea; it is untrue. You can be in the “cool” gang and be a nerd. Don’t try to belong, don’t change your interest in science or any thing in yourself to belong to certain groups. Be yourself, follow your curiosity and if you like science work at it, and others will want to be in your gang a few years later.

      I think what young girls and boys need to see is that there is not one type of scientist, you can be yourself and you can be a scientist and there is no one stopping you! The way I’m trying to get this message through is by being there as myself, a tiny girl with unicorn socks, and by being a good scientist at the same time 🙂 We need all the help we can get here in science and we don’t want to lose amazing minds because they though they don’t fit the scientist image. There is so much we need to discover and so much to fix in this world. We are going to help the environment, cure diseases, help the elderly and care for animals. Come join us!
